Mastering that fine line between drifting and crashing is an art, not a science. To protect the common man from hitting that fine line too harshly, Chevy has just introduced the “No dorifto” inflatable restraint system into its new Camaros. It protects the driver and passengers from that dastardly asphalt ocean that they are adrift in.
Air bags: Can’t win with them, can’t win without them.
Last week, this video popped up on the interwebs. It consists of a camera strapped to a 650+ horsepower Ariel Atom. Not familiar with the Atom you say? Well, just imagine an F1 car that you can drive on the street. It is sort of like that, but less expensive. It’s not a luxury or winter vehicle by any means, but it will out corner any other vehicle in your neighborhood, and make your friends shriek out profanity. The one in this video was apparently built by RealStreetPerformance in Orlando Florida. It claims to have 650+ horsepower coming from a K20 Honda engine with the help of some forced induction. The power is sent through a 6-speed to the rear wheels, which clearly makes for one serious hell ride.
A 4G63 turbo powered rail car of course! I know, I know, you are probably all like “Hey enough with the Mitsubishi power drag cars already!” My response to you is “Share some new, exciting, and unique non-mitsu powered stuff with me and I’ll post ’em up!”
Now, I really should have far more details about this car due to it being a local guy, its sheer awesomeness, the hottness, the quickness, and its immeasurable good looks. Unfortunately I don’t at the moment. If this video gets a positive response though, I will be sure to get all the details, have a real write-up (not just a quicky like this) and so much more! This car has been many years in the making, so seeing it nearly dip into the 6’s while knocking on the door of 200mph is just plain sick. Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do.
Here’s a really cool 1930 Ford model A coupe Rat Rod with a suicide shifter outside of the car. It has a gas tank inside the car and a pretty cool gas cap located on the roof to fill-er-up. There’s a lot of really nice custom work done on this one.

Back in February, we introduced you to Matt A. and his E30 BMW. Under his hood was a Mitsu Eclipse 4G63 turbo engine swap, along with a 6-speed manual transmission, and a turbo that could swallow a goose whole and not even surge. Last year, Matt’s BMW was making a mere 500-ish horsepower and running low 11’s in the quarter mile at 119 mph. So, it was basically too slow, because Matt wanted 9’s. Fair enough.
It’s now July 2011, and racing season is in full swing again. On July 9th Matt took his BMW up to New England Dragway for his first real testing day this season. Right off that bat, Matt tore off a 1.586 second 60 foot time, and ran 10.538 at 132 mph. Cutting a half a second off your 1320 time, along with gaining 13 mph is not too shabby I’d say.
You are probably saying “Great, but he still didn’t do 9’s yet, so what?” Well, you see Matt has around 100 more horsepower on tap, ready to be “turned on” per se. He is just on the fence about cranking it up and grabbing 9’s in the weeks ahead, OR saving his fresh drivetrain for the 19th Annual DSM shootout in Ohio on August 20th and 21st. Regardless of when it happens, 9’s are going to happen, and you will see the video here when it does.
