Spending A Day Failing Teaches You Something

workbench disaster
Sometimes, you spend an entire day wrenching on some type of fantastic automotive project, and it turns into 10 hours of pure, pain-filled, torturous, unstoppable failure. Don’t bother trying to prevent it, because it cannot be done. For my fellow car enthusiast friends, and myself, a complete day full of failure is scheduled against our will once every few months, or anytime after 11pm.  When it happens, you know it.  Bolts will break, fire takes place, parts vanish, and injuries are 100% totally unavoidable.  I’m serious!  The hardest that I have ever been punched was directly in the face with my own fist! That’s a story for another day though. During the course of one of these types of days, each and every second will be worse than the last, but if you give up, you are a quitter. You don’t want to be a quitter right?  Now, after this past weekend, I came to the realization that some good may actually come out of a day of failure. Here is the key: Failing hard will keep a person humble. Let me explain. » Continue reading more of this post…

Next Race Is;The Coca-Cola 600

If you’re in a fantasy league you would be wise to pick either Kyle Busch or Carl Edwards as this weeks winner of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Both had very strong cars last Saturday night during the All-Star Race. With Carl Edwards winning the event and Kyle rolling across the finish line to bring home a second place finish, the two of these guys ran strong all night.

If I had to make a decision as to who was going to bring home the checkers for the Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600, I’d have to put my finger on Kyle Busch. For starters to Kyle, coming home second means your the first looser, and to get another shot at a victory at the same track; I can’t see Mr. Busch letting that one slip by him twice in a row. He sure to make his presence known on Sunday.

If that isn’t enough, it seems as though Mr. Busch has been practicing all week in preparation , does a certain Lexas mishap seem to ring a bell?

In all seriousness Carl Edwards is backed by Roush Fenway racing and boy have they gotten that new FR9 Ford Motor figured out. He hooked up and checked out all night long during the Nascar All-Star event.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. never was a factor during the race. He was voted in on the fan vote, and for some reason the team just couldn’t seem to get that car dialed in on Saturday night. Was the Hendrick camp able to compare notes this week between the 48,88,5 and 24 we’ll never know.

The Coca-Cola 600 is Nascar’s longest race of the year, so if you plan on watching it you’re in for the long haul.

This Is An Acura Integra With A Blown Big Block.

acura integra big block

I’m sure that many times in life, you have secretly wondered what it would be like to shoehorn a supercharged big block Chevy into an Acura Integra.  Luckily for you, we now have the answer in the form of a YouTube video.  The word on the street is that this car was built by the owner of Pro Street Unlimited in Manchester NH.

From what I have been told, it has a big block 402 with an 871 blower, sitting in a shaved engine bay, with a TH350 transmission strapped to the back, full tube frame in the rear, and a Ford 9 inch rear end.  Not too shabby, I’d say. As more details come to me, I will add them in. Until then, enjoy the video, as it really is quite an impressive accomplishment.

A Weekend In Charlotte…. Nascar Style

This past weekend the boys were at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Camping World Truck Series had all of the action that the Nascar All-Star Race seemed to lack on Saturday night. From spinouts to post race chest poking, there was certainly some action to be had during the N.C. Education Lottery 200.

Kyle Busch lead all of seven laps on Friday night clinching the win after spinning out at one point during the race. He had passed Clint Bowyer with seven laps to go. Clint Bowyer got back in the throttle to make a hard charge towards the bumper of Kyle Busch’s NOS sponsored Toyota, but slower traffic broke the line he was running on, which ruined his only chance to pass Busch. While in victory lane Kyle Busch stated that Clint Bowyer had the truck to beat. » Continue reading more of this post…

Done: Honda Hawk GT NT650 Motorcycle Project

It all started back in early April when I posted the Honda Hawk GT Build Part 1.  I had just pulled it out of my dark, damp, and disgusting shed, and found that it had become the meeting place for all of the local spiders. Once the arachnid population was evicted and the sunlight hit it, I came to the  realization that my long term neglect had really taken a toll on my once loved motorcycle.  Every piece of aluminum was corroded, and all of the steel was rusting.  It was flat out sad looking.  The only way to properly correct this situation was to strip the whole thing down and start over. » Continue reading more of this post…

2009 Cadillac CTS…..wait for it…. Convertible!

Just when you thought you had seen the roof cut off of everything (I’m looking at you Subaru STI ), somebody goes and lops one off of a 2009 Cadillac CTS, and throws it on eBay.  This whole “turn my car into a convertible” thing just puzzles me.  I have to assume that if the owner of this Cadillac wanted a convertible sooooo badly, they could have just bought a new Cadillac XLR at the time.  I mean what’s the price difference between buying a new CTS and having it turned into a convertible vs. buying a new XLR.  A few grand?  Ah well, at least it isn’t a full time convertible, that would be depressing.  Instead, in true Cadillac form, it has a luxurious power top, which you can see in action in This Video.

While it is actually better looking than many convertible conversions, it’s just not my forte’.  To each their own I suppose.  Nobody likes my truck either, but I still dump money into it like it’s a 401K, of which it is clearly not.  But I digress…. Here is the beautiful drop tizzop CTS showing off all that its got. What do you think? Is it your dream car or another nightmare?
