This past weekend the boys were at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Camping World Truck Series had all of the action that the Nascar All-Star Race seemed to lack on Saturday night. From spinouts to post race chest poking, there was certainly some action to be had during the N.C. Education Lottery 200.
Kyle Busch lead all of seven laps on Friday night clinching the win after spinning out at one point during the race. He had passed Clint Bowyer with seven laps to go. Clint Bowyer got back in the throttle to make a hard charge towards the bumper of Kyle Busch’s NOS sponsored Toyota, but slower traffic broke the line he was running on, which ruined his only chance to pass Busch. While in victory lane Kyle Busch stated that Clint Bowyer had the truck to beat. » Continue reading more of this post…
Get your recliner ready because Nascar’s All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is this weekend!
Rookies Trevor Bayne (winner of this years Daytona 500), and Regan Smith are both in the show for having won a race this year. However Nascar’s biggest star Dale Earnhardt Jr. is not. Although he has seemed to have turned his season around, he hasn’t won a race yet in 2011. So for Dale Junior he is going to have to try to race his way into the show during the Nascar prerace qualifier, and if he doesn’t make it in this way, it will be up to Junior Nation to support their driver and toss him into the ring on a fan vote.
When asked about how he felt about getting into the race he said that he has never been able to be part of the prerace show and was actually pretty excited to go through that process to see what happens, and basically be part of the event.
So the dash for cash is on for Saturday night on Speed with a purse of 1 million dollars. This is a no holds barred race with no points to worry about, and I have also heard that Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick’s probation didn’t count, or isn’t going to be enforced for this race.
Pretty much anything can happen. Remember in 2008 when Kasey Khane was voted in on the fan vote and won the darn thing, or what about the year Kurt and Kyle Busch took each other out of the event when they crashed. They didn’t speak to each other until Thanksgiving of that year when their grandmother at dinner time made them put it behind them and shake hands!
Who do you think will win the million dollar purse on Saturday night?
During the Nascar All-Star Race on May 21st, Mark Martin will be sporting a red Chevy Impala sponsored by Farmers Insurance. Farmers Insurance will be a primary sponsor for five races during the 2011 season.
Mark Martins car for the All-Star Race will be a throwback to 1986 when Hendrick Motorsports fielded the Folgers Monte Carlo driven by Tim Richmond. In 1986 Tim Richmond had Harry Hyde as his crew chief, which proved to be a potent combination. Tim Richmond won seven races and eight pole positions during that season.
Mark Martin has been with Farmers Insurance for over five years and stated that it was a great deal for the fans to bring back this paint scheme, and that he was pretty excited to be a part of it.
