One Of The Most Impressive Driving Videos On The Internet

There is no shortage of videos on the internet, especially when it comes to automotive hijinks.  This particular one is several years old now, but it still leads the pack as far as impressive driving goes.  When you combine an ultra light super 7 with a driver that knows what the heck they are doing, it is truly a sight to behold.

Got a more impressive video?  Well, I’d like to see it.

Watching A Lamborghini Crash Is Mostly Just Sad.

Watching a car crash is like, well, watching a car crash. You see the impending doom, time slows down and you start moaning like a zombie. Then the inevitable happens, the car collides with something and your zombie-esque moan turns into a breathy lung exhausting “aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh”.

This video is one of those moments.  You know what’s about to happen from the first rev of the engine. One minute later, the Lamborghini becomes the swirly meat in a giant car sandwich. The only word that comes to mind in this instance is a sarcastic “unprofessional“.  Sorry for your loss of nice bodywork Lambo.

Doing 185 MPH ? on Public Roads

Sometimes people do stupid things. Riding this fast on a public road is most definitely one of them. The video claims 299 kmh, which converts to roughly 185 mph, but some math wizards out there on the internet are claiming more like 135 mph. Regardless of the actual number, I think we can all agree that the rider was clearly not following the rules of the road. Let’s review the facts:

1) The symbol on the upper triple tree is found on a Yamaha R1.

2) R1′s are rumored to be able to reach close to 185 miles per hour. Real life, tire size,  and sprocket sizes will throw these numbers off.

3) The rider likely has some serious seat time considering he/she didn’t get swallowed by the back of a Subaru.

4) The rider is probably more young than old. Helmet cam + zero fear + motorcycle + posting on internet.

So who is this man of mystery? A professional racer? A fearless teenager? Or maybe it just a random guy on a fast bike that was extraordinarily lucky that he didn’t slide himself into a truck at 185 mph that day. Will we ever find out? So many unanswered questions within this video.

M3 – A Mashbat Brothers Film

Several months ago I shared a really cool short film made by the Mashbat Brothers which featured a new Subaru WRX, and a guy that clearly knew his way around the basketball court.  I wasn’t sure exactly how to describe the video, other than it feeling like an awesome commercial for something. It had great music, terrific filming, and being a car-guy, the new WRX was obviously a win.

Fast forward to today – Bishrel Mashbat, who made that first film, just sent me the newest one that he and his brother have made. Sure enough, it is equally fantastic. I have now seen it about 4 (…okay now 5) times in a row, and it’s quite addicting to watch. The music is incredibly intense, and the featured car for this short film is a slick looking BMW M3.  If you were a fan of the first video, like cars, love music, or are simply alive, you will probably enjoy this video. Again, I am left wanting so much more.

Thanks Bishrel! Excellent work again!

In Car Video: Hill Climb Crash in a BMW E30

As it turns out, I know a few guys that do hill climbs in really fast cars. Actually… I’m not sure if the cars are really fast… or they are just driven really fast? In any case, I can assure you that this whole hill climbing thing is pure madness. Back when I was young and fearless, I used to ride down metal slides on freshly waxed cookie sheets (I don’t want to brag…). To this date, it was probably the fastest that I have ever traveled, so needless to say I have a very healthy fear of speed. Driving on a narrow road at ridiculous speeds with nothing but gigantic trees and mysterious creatures on both sides? Hmm. I’m guess I am probably not meant for that. I’ll be honest, when I walk by trees, I feel slightly uncomfortable knowing that if I bump into one of them it will probably scrape my arm. So speeding by them in a car at 100 miles per hour on wet pavement sounds absolutely horrifying to me. Maybe my cookie sheet sliding endeavors as a youth taught me all that I needed to know about going fast. I’m not sure, but I know that I would never do it again. I’ll let the more fearless friends of mine enjoy these fruits of life, and I’ll stick to spinning wrenches while the cars stay still.

For those of you that are far too impatient to watch the whole video above, feel free to skip ahead to about 2:05 mark. As soon as Matt (the driver) cuts the steering wheel hard left, you will probably want to pick up your feet, and shout “wwwweeeeaaaaOOOOHHHH!!” out loud.  Watch it twice or thrice if necessary. Heck, share it with a friend. It’s a fact, hill climb drivers are totally fearless.

Journey WRX: A WRX Journey

Over on VWVortex, there is never a lack of greatness being posted from people that are far more creative and talented than myself. This video is from one of those posts.  From what I have gathered, the creator of the video’s friend (did I lose you there?) bought a Subaru WRX, but that isn’t his only claim to fame.  He can also tear up a basketball court like he invented the dang Reebok Pumps. Naturally, the two friends decided to combine these two passions into one cinematic adventure that strangely makes me want to purchase something at the end.  I just can’t decide whether I want some classic Air Jordan’s, or a new WRX.  In any case, it is amazing what a couple of talented folks can do behind a camera.  A simple idea turns into something that could easily be a great TV advertisement for……. something I have yet to decide. Well done!
