Your Wheel Just Fell Off… WAIT WHAT!?!

Have you ever heard somebody proclaim “I’m going to drive this dang car until the wheels fall off!” ?  Well, a friend of mine literally did drive at least 1 wheel off, and he captured that very special moment on video for the world to enjoy.  Luckily for him and his Subaru, he knew something was horribly amiss before the wheel decided to take an early apex without him. He immediately pulled the heck over before the car could begin its full acrobatic yard sale routine. Extremely Lucky!

Note to self: Always film automotive adventures, because you’ll be glad that you did.

Enjoy!

Little Cars Don’t Need 4 Wheels On The Ground To Be Faster Than You

Recently, I was wandering the streets of Reddit/Autos, and saw an awesome video that “DrunkOnUnleaded” posted up. It’s a couple years old, but I was so thoroughly impressed that I figured I would share it on here as well.  In the midst of a heated track battle, one car begins sliding, which inevitably leads to an amazing automotive stunt that you haven’t witnessed since the 1930′s… Unless of course you race Fiat’s. Maybe it’s more common in the Fiat world than I think.  Either way, enjoy the video. I sure did.

This Is What Losing Your Brakes At 120mph Looks Like.

When you are accelerating down the straightaway at 120 mph in your track-only EVO, the last thing you want to lose is your brakes.  Luckily for this driver, the driver of the silver STI on his right checked his mirrors, saw what was about to happen, and didn’t turn in to the corner.  If he had, both drivers would have been in much worse shape.  Hold on to your hats, it’s one hell of a ride.

That obviously looked pretty bad, but imagine if you could see it from the STI’s perspective. Oh wait, you can, because he had an in-car camera as well.

When all was said and done, the driver of the EVO was a bit sore, and his car needed a few new body panels. Overall, not bad. It did drive itself onto the trailer though, which indicated the drivetrain being “mostly” ok.  So what happened to the brakes?  Well, he believes that they were severely overheated just before the straightaway, which boiled the brake fluid, and caused the low pedal. Needless to say, the brakes will be getting an upgrade of some sort.

Grand Cherokee’s Can Fly Just Like The General Lee

Whenever you combine Jeeps and sand pits, you end up with a touch of danger and a whole lot of awesomeness.  This video, which is truly unmatched on several levels, will prove exactly that.  It also proves that Grand Cherokees can elegantly fly through the air just like the General Lee once did. Well done boys, well done.

Air Bags: The Only Thing Stopping You From Being The Drift King

Mastering that fine line between drifting and crashing is an art, not a science.  To protect the common man from hitting that fine line too harshly, Chevy has just introduced the “No dorifto” inflatable restraint system into its new Camaros.  It protects the driver and passengers from that dastardly asphalt ocean that they are adrift in.

Air bags: Can’t win with them, can’t win without them.

This Ariel Atom Video Will Make You Giggle.

Last week, this video popped up on the interwebs.  It consists of a camera strapped to a 650+ horsepower Ariel Atom.  Not familiar with the Atom you say?  Well, just imagine an F1 car that you can drive on the street.  It is sort of like that, but less expensive.  It’s not a luxury or winter vehicle by any means, but it will out corner any other vehicle in your neighborhood, and make your friends shriek out profanity. The one in this video was apparently built by RealStreetPerformance in Orlando Florida. It claims to have 650+ horsepower coming from a K20 Honda engine with the help of some forced induction.  The power is sent through a 6-speed to the rear wheels, which clearly makes for one serious hell ride.

What goes down the 1320 in 7.04 seconds at 190 mph?

A 4G63 turbo powered rail car of course!  I know, I know, you are probably all like “Hey enough with the Mitsubishi power drag cars already!” My response to you is “Share some new, exciting, and unique non-mitsu powered stuff with me and I’ll post ‘em up!

Now, I really should have far more details about this car due to it being a local guy, its sheer awesomeness, the hottness, the quickness, and its immeasurable good looks.  Unfortunately I don’t at the moment.  If this video gets a positive response though, I will be sure to get all the details, have a real write-up (not just a quicky like this) and so much more!  This car has been many years in the making, so seeing it nearly dip into the 6′s while knocking on the door of 200mph is just plain sick.  Hopefully you enjoy it as much as I do.
