A Weekend In Charlotte…. Nascar Style

This past weekend the boys were at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Camping World Truck Series had all of the action that the Nascar All-Star Race seemed to lack on Saturday night. From spinouts to post race chest poking, there was certainly some action to be had during the N.C. Education Lottery 200.

Kyle Busch lead all of seven laps on Friday night clinching the win after spinning out at one point during the race. He had passed Clint Bowyer with seven laps to go. Clint Bowyer got back in the throttle to make a hard charge towards the bumper of Kyle Busch’s NOS sponsored Toyota, but slower traffic broke the line he was running on, which ruined his only chance to pass Busch. While in victory lane Kyle Busch stated that Clint Bowyer had the truck to beat.

While all of this was going on Johnny Sauter was on pit road poking the chest of Ron Hornaday stating that Hornaday blocked him from passing and damaged the front of Sauters truck.

Hornaday was going three wide trying to pass some slower trucks, when Sauter bumped him from behind damaging his own truck.

This was more than likely pointed out by Hornaday because after the victory lane celebration when Sauter was interviewed, Hornaday came up and joked around with him.

Fast forward to the Nascar All-Star Race on Saturday night. Dale Earnhardt Jr. was unable to race his way into the event, but Junior Nation had his back. From what Nascar called a land slide, Earnhardt was tossed into the ring on the fan vote.

The format of the race and its four segments should have set the stage for an exciting evening but when the green flag dropped Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards took off like a missile. Kyle at one point had a half lap on the field. He hooked up and checked out.

During the last 10 lap segement Carl Edwards grabbed the checkered flag, crossed the finish line with a car that didn’t have a dent on it UNTIL…..  He decided to spin the Aflac sponsored Ford through the field and in the process hit an underground drainage system that literally tore the nose right off of the car.

A stunned Edwards sat in his car in disbelief about what just happened and proceeded to climb out and do his signature back flip off the door of the Aflac Roush Fenway Ford.
