A Volvo 780 Coupe Spotted in the Wild

Just a few hours ago, I was out and about, doing a little Christmas shopping. On one trip into a parking lot, I happened to lay my eyes upon the back side of a car that looked … well… oddly out of place.  It just did not belong in the sea of beige Camry’s and Minivans. My glance happened so quickly though, that I couldn’t seem to place what the heck I had just seen. As I rounded the endless rows of the parking lot, while dodging rogue carriages, my memory was feverishly flipping pages of magazines that I had read decades ago, hoping to determine the nature of this machine. Obviously, being a stalker of unique automobiles, I had to move in for a closer look.

As it turns out, what I had spotted was in fact a unique piece of history. It was a late 1980’s Volvo 780 Bertone Coupe! Not your everyday vehicle for sure. From what I understand, these things are fairly rare with only something like 8500 of them being built over 4 years.  That’s fairly rare if you ask me, especially when you consider that they were spread out over a few different continents.  Seeing one in person these days is a sweet stroke of luck. With under 200 horsepower, they certainly weren’t race cars, but they sure were classy looking, in their boxy 1980’s sort of way.

1986 Ford RS 200 Group B Rally Car For Sale on eBay

Like Group B rally cars? Want to own your own street version of a 1986 Ford RS 200?  Asking either of those questions is like asking if ice cream is still delicious post-Y2K. Of course it is! For those of you that are not familiar with this little turbocharged rascal; what we have here today is not your average 1986 Ford. It’s an RS 200 that was originally intended for Group B rally racing, which is a disturbingly awesome piece of racing history.  Watch this video to get an idea of what the RS 200 is all about.

Now, as I said, this particular car is the “street” version with probably 250 horsepower and just over 1000 miles on it. Yes, 1000. It’s apparently a 1 owner car that is located in Florida, and can be yours for simply $129,000.  I can’t say whether that is a crazy-go-nuts price or not, because these things don’t come up for sale very often. When they do, they don’t have 1000 miles on them.  What do you think, are you ready to give up the cash?

A Cruise Through Boston’s Zakim Bridge & Tunnels At Night

Have you ever wanted to see what Boston’s “Big Dig” looks like these days? Have you been dreaming of seeing the Zakim bridge at night?  Have you been wondering what do with the next 4 minutes of your  life?  Well, if you answered yes to any of the previous questions, I have the video of your dreams.  See, a friend, of mine has been recently testing out what he can and cannot do with his GoPro HD 960P camera, and in the process has come up with some pretty nifty footage of the surrounding areas.  He then adds some sweet beats, and WHAMO! entertainment for us. I have absolutely no doubt that there is more cool video in our future, as he is just getting started.  Sadly, unlike A Rendezvous In Paris, there is no beautiful girl at the end of this ride. Fingers crossed for next time.

1A Auto Blog Asks: What Car Do You Most Regret Buying?

If you’re a typical car enthusiast, you have likely owned a few really terrible cars over the years. When you bought them, they weren’t terrible.  In fact they probably seemed like a great deal at the time. A little bit of elbow grease and you would be hitting the beaches, and living the dream!  If you really played your cards right, you may even sell it for a profit.  Then reality hits you in the face like a full pedal’s worth of old brake fluid. Yea, we’ve been there.

So which car is your automotive nemesis? Tell us a story.

Hotness For Sale: The 1990 BMW M3 Sport Evolution

Maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s the global economy, but for whatever reason, this seems to be a great week to toss your super rare car onto eBay with an exorbitant price. Yesterday it was a SOHC Holman Moody Mustang, and today it is a 15,000 original mile, 1990 BMW M3.  Not just your typical boring M3 though, it’s the nearly 240 horsepower “Sport Evolution” model. Oh, and it’s all black with factory headlight wipers. You know, just in case you get into some muddy rallying situations.  This, my friends, is a car that people dream of owning. People like me.

As with all good things in life, there is some bad news…  To start off, the car is currently in Munich Germany, which is far, at least from the United States. Secondly, it’s a car that you would constantly have to worry about if you park it in any parking lot by itself. Let’s face it, somebody in a minivan is guaranteed to swing their door into the side of it. You cannot avoid it. Lastly, it is currently bid up to $90,000-ish Euros and the reserve has not been met.  That is 120 THOUSAND dollars.  What the what?!! So if you want the car in your life, you will likely need to be a millionaire that just won the lottery.  Hey, that happens…  Check out the Ebay Item #: 170728665662 If you don’t speak German, you may want to translate it.  It’s a hoot.

Here Is That SOHC Head Mustang That You’ve Always Wanted

Remember how you always wanted to have an old 4-speed Mustang, painted orange, with a super rare SOHC head engine in it? Well, now is your chance, and you currently have 1 day left to think about it. There is only one problem, such greatness does not come cheap. You’ll have to grab a few extra hours of overtime in the weeks ahead to cover the nominal $765,000 asking price for this fully documented A/FX Holman Moody Mustang. Just imagine how fun shifting gears while in a wheelie would be.  Ebay Item Number: 260898918761

For $8950, Would You Like Your DeLorean Extra Crispy?

Someday I will own a DeLorean. It won’t initially be a nice one though, because I am way to cheap to buy anything decent. It will probably be a total mess of a car that nobody else will touch. It will look like a pile of charred stainless steel that was hit by a train, and then dumped into a muddy river for a few years. Yeap, that is the one that I would buy.  Haters gonna hate, but I love seeing a car brought back from the worst of the worst. The only thing better than that is being part of the restoration process. That said, assuming that you are not quite as cheap as me, but pretty darn close, I have a treat for you today.  It comes in the form of good news in bad news though.

Good News: This DeLorean was not hit by a train! Fantastic right?

Bad News: It was on fire, but the current owners says that it merely “had minor fire in cabin“.  Understatement of the year? Absolutely. We all know that fires are put out with water, so I think we can also assume that this car was filled with thousands of gallons of H2O as well. That doesn’t scare you right? Good!

Just less than 9 grand is all it will take to bring this beauty to your driveway.  It’s just too bad it wasn’t hit by a train, or I may be a buyer.  Ah well, better luck next time I guess…
