Cars are a great way to learn about our past and especially American history. You can certainly learn a lot about our presidents based on the cars they drove (or rode in).
The United States presidential state car, or the presidential limo, was more recently better known as “The Beast.” These imposing cars reflect the auto and presidential trends of their day.

The Cadillac Eldorado had class, luxury, and was the top-of-the-line Cadillac with a long tradition that lasted 12 car generations.
The name Eldorado is actually two separate words in Spanish combined together to translate into “the gilded one.” How appropriate, since the Cadillac Eldorado is legendary for its luxurious feel and special look.
It was supposed to be the last year for the Cadillac convertible, with 14,000 units sold, and marketed as the “last American convertible,” because of expected Department of Transportation regulations, and safety concerns all brought on by car-safety guru Ralph Nader.
The last 200 cars off the line of the 14,000 Eldorados produced were known as the “Bicentennial Edition.”

What did Elvis Presley and Evel Knievel, two cultural icons of the 1970s, have in common? Well, a few things. One was that besides being at the top of their respective professions, they were showmen.
Both Elvis and Evel understood that whether singing in Las Vegas or jumping motorcycles over cars, part of their performance was entertaining their fan bases with top-level showmanship. Both Elvis and Evel admired and emulated another top performer of his time, Liberace.
Liberace was well known for his exotic-looking, sparkling-studded jumpsuits and capes while he played classical music on his rhinestone piano.
So in top extravagant showman style, Elvis and Evel would follow with their own wild clothes to capture the attention and imagination of their fans.
There was another commonality of the two American icons, and that was their desire for and the ownership of the Stutz Blackhawk.

The 1972 Chevy Corvette Stingray has always been my favorite. It was the last year Corvettes featured both a front and rear chrome bumper. Black or Ontario Orange with T-tops is my dream car, but I digress.
There are many reasons someone becomes a gearhead. Perhaps it’s time spent under the hood as a kid? Maybe they grew up around a relative’s or friend’s cool car? Or, then again, they could have caught car fever from watching a great car movie.
