Giving You Chills: Want To Peek Inside A Garage Full Of Corvettes?

I realize it is still early in the day, but this is most likely going to be the coolest thing that you see today, it certainly was for me.  I was browsing the latest blogging goodness over on justacarguy.blogspot.com and came across a super awesome website. It is a garage / museum / collection owned by Michael Brown that is almost entirely Corvettes. The really amazing thing though, is that Michael is a video producer, and his collection has multiple cameras that you can control from the comforts of your own computer chair.  I can’t imagine how it works, but it sure is cool to play with.  Be sure to cover your keyboard, because you may drool a bit.

It doesn’t end there though.  Michael also produced a film that premiers tomorrow! It is called “The Quest” and it is about the history of the Corvettes at Le Mans and Chip Miller’s quest to find the #3 car decades later.  The trailer for the movie can be watched on the website posted below.

It will give you chills, watch it:

Corvette: Oh.. This Old Thing? Oh It’s Nothing.. Really..

Sometimes I see vehicles that just make me smile.  This C4 Corvette is one of those cars because it is the same sort of thing that I drew on my notebooks in high school.  It feels so right to have a car that looks bone stock other than the disturbingly fantastic blower that is ever-so-gently poking through the hood.  This Vette looks just like lettuce tastes; so crisp, so clean, so… fresh!  It is as if the car is saying “oh this old thing, oh it’s nothing…really…

…..Very well played little red Corvette, I like your style.

Bring Back The Drive-In

For anyone that’s ever been to a drive-in movie theater, this is definitely one of those things that are a blast from the past .

Sure these days there are new state of the art movie theaters that have surround sound and seats with cup holders, but the drive-in was also about spending time with your family, playing football with your cousins or friends, and getting eaten by mosquitoes. Plus, at the drive-in you always got to see two movies and honk the horn to tell the movie guy he’s taking to long loading the second one!

Yes these are the things that made the drive-in an exciting place to visit other than sneaking in a few extra friends in the trunk of your car. At one point in time there were drive-in movie theaters all over the place, you couldn’t travel very far without passing one. Now they have pretty much gone the way of the dinosaur.

I’m actually pretty fortunate because we have one that’s still in operation only 45 minutes from the house. What’s the last movie that you were able to see at a drive-in? More importantly – what were you driving?

While you are thinking about that I’ve found this pretty cool website that let’s you plug in your zip code and it will show you where the nearest drive-in is in your area.

320 All Wheel Horsepower Wrapped In a Plaid Wagon

A friend of mine has a totally sweet Subaru Wagon that really deserves to be appreciated by the masses.  You may have seen it once before way back in the day when it was a different color.  Luckily for us, the plaid hood survived the color change.  The body was not the only thing that changed with this car though over the last year.  The last time I bragged about it, the engine bay was chalk full of weakness, sorrow, and sad faces. Not so much anymore… Read More

Hemi Under Glass Wheel Stander Barracuda

One of the most famous wheel standers known as “Hemi Under Glass” was driven by Bob Riggle. The Barracuda did not start life off as a wheel stander, but more as a car that would be competitive in racing. When Bob realized the excitement of the crowd while his Cuda’ hung the front wheels half way down the track, he decided to turn it into an exhibition car.

I wasn’t fortunate enough to have seen this car run back in the day, but I did grow up watching Bill Mavericks “Little Red Wagon” make multiple 135MPH runs at New England Dragway in Epping, NH in the late 70s early 80s.

Here’s a great video I stumbled onto on YouTube. It shows all kinds of vintage wheel standers, some of which I never knew existed.
