The Worlds Fastest Dodge Caravan Is Now For Sale.

Your dreams have finally come true. The fastest Dodge Caravan is officially for sale for the nominal amount of $6500.  Considering that it is a 1989 Dodge Caravan that runs 11.76 @ 115 mph in the quarter mile, that’s not a bad price in my mind.  Seriously. That is really, really ridiculous fast, not just for a mini van, but for any car.  Mid 11 second quarter’s are as quick as a Corvette Z06 for your reference.  So doing that in a front wheel drive turbo minivan is an epic win.

Terry Ryan (AKA “Gasketmaster”), who built and owns this work of art says:

The Days Are Starting To Get Longer

I was heading home from work last night and I couldn’t help but notice one thing, I didn’t need my headlights on! You know what this means don’t you? we’re about 6-8 weeks away from being able to fire up a hot rod and go for a spin up here in New England.

There’s nothing like cruising home from work in your muscle car and being able to turn into a cruise night, grab a burger with your buddies and talk about what mods your going to do over the summer or what gremlins have presented themselves over your cars long winters nap.

Daylight savings time is about 10 days away (from the date of this post), not that I’m counting or anything. One more sign that warmer weather and good times are approaching. Who needs a ground hog to predict this stuff anyway?

Win The Lottery And Start A NASCAR Truck Team

That’s what Joe Denette decided to do when he woke up one morning and realized he had won the Virginia Lottery for $75,600,000 in May of 2009.

When Joe checked his lottery ticket, he was on his way to meet some friends over at the race track to attend a NASCAR race. He told his friends that he just hit the lottery and was going to start his own race team. His friends didn’t take him seriously and joked around with him, saying “yah right“!

That Monday morning Joe told the Virginia Lottery officials the story of how he found out that he had won, and what he wanted to do with some of his winnings. So they decided to have the official presentation ceremony at Richmond International Raceway. Read More

Trevor Bayne Wins The Daytona 500

Pretty much anything can happen during the Daytona 500, and one thing’s for certain, this years Daytona 500 was no exception to the rule. With record lead changes and the big one happening early in the race, many top contenders such and Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and many other popular drivers had their chances of winning end early.

Once the smoke cleared and the final lap emerged it was rookie Trevor Bayne racing for the Wood Brothers in a Motorcraft sponsored Ford that crossed the finish line first.

The only rookie to ever win the Daytona 500 was Lee Petty during the first Daytona 500, because essentially everyone was a rookie for that race. Trevor Bayne is the youngest rookie to have won the Daytona 500 in history at the age of 20.

I have been watching this kid draft with Jeff Gordon all week long and from what I can see he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Check Out The Gatorade Duals On Speed

The big news out of Daytona from yesterday had to be that Dale Earhardt Jr crashed his 500 car during practice. He was drafting with teammate Jimmie Johnson when they came up on a pack of slower cars. Jimmie Johnson slowed down and got loose causing Earnhardt to slow, resulting in Martin Truex Jr. to get into the back of Earnhardt’s car sending him into the inside retaining wall.

Earnhardt has gone to a back up car and will need to start at the rear of the field as mandated by Nascar for the Daytona 500.

The Gatorade Duals are today and will be shown at 1:00 pm on Speed, the race starts at 2:00. The rest of the field has to race its way into the Daytona 500 during these two races. If you can catch them they’re a great race to watch, Speed usually replays them a few times at night during the week.

Nascar Changes Restrictor Plates For The Daytona 500

Due to cars hitting speeds of 206 MPH during the Bud Shootout on Saturday night, Nascar has decided to change the size of the restrictor plate to 1/64th of an inch.

This change should drop about 10 horsepower from the motors, resulting in speeds just under 200 MPH for Sunday’s race. These changes help to keep the cars at speeds that will keep both the drivers and fans safe.
