2011 CTS-V Coupe. Now Featuring More Awesome Than Ever Before!

2011 CTS-V Coupe

There has been talk about Cadillac CTS Coupes for quite some time now, and also chatter about just how spectacular the CTS-V Coupe will be when it eventually arrives.  Well, the time is now upon us.  Cadillac is saying that the the CTS-V Coupe is really available for the 2011 year, and from the looks of the pictures, it is as beautiful as ever.  Lucky for us, it still has the magnificent work of art under the hood, and it is just as beautifully supercharged and powerful as ever.  The magnetic ride control, 14.7 inch rotors, and 6 piston Brembos matched with 19 inch wheels wrapped in Michelins, is truly the exact package that every vehicle needs.   This car appears to be what happens when the GM engineers get together and say, “Let’s just put the best of everything we have on a car and see what happens”.  If Cadillac wants to donate one of these to a good home for some real world testing, I will be willing to donate my time, gas, and opinions to their cause.  🙂

Autoguide.com provided the beautiful picture and specs.

Old Hemi’s in the woods. Now that’s unique.

Instead of a complete rotting car today, we have a couple Hemi engines in the woods.  One still sits between some frame rails and the other was found hiding under an old hood.  I am not sure if they are 331’s or 392’s, but it’s obvious that they are the “old” style Hemis.  I looked around the area and sadly there were not any 426 blocks hanging out nearby.

Can anybody provide some stats of these?  Size? Horsepower? Torque? There must be some old school Mopar guys out there that know this kind of stuff.  Enjoy the rotting muscle !

Hello Ford 5.0L engine, It’s nice to see you again.

2011 Mustang 5.0L Engine

Ford recently announced that the 5.0L V8 engine is back for the 2011 Mustang. You may remember the 5.0L from the the days when your hair was a bit longer, and your jean jacket was the coolest thing in town. Back in the 1980’s the big bad Ford V8 had about half the horsepower of what the automotive world is receiving in 2011. Yes, Ford is claiming 412 hp, and 390 ft lbs of torque. It should be scary to say the least. www.Burlappcars.com has the photos to prove it. Well done Ford, it’s a great looking engine so far, hopefully it holds up to abuse like the last 5.0L did.

Factory 5 VW Supercar? Yes Please.

Latest Beauty from Factory 5

Recently Mark Smith of Factory 5 (www.ffcobra.com) arrived on some VW discussion forums.  He quickly made it known that he had a VW kit car project in the works that looks conceptually outstanding.  Apparently you start with a Gen IV Golf or Jetta, and slice and dice it into a GTM-inspired (my words) supercar.  Overall, it looks like a massively epic win for Volkswagen enthusiasts, and the car world in general, because an economic supercar will soon be within the average DIY’ers budget!  There isn’t a descriptive enough word in the English language to describe the kind of automotive passion that comes out of the Factory 5 guys hands, so I have no doubt that this will be more of the same.  If you want to follow the progress there are two areas you may want to venture into.   Thecarlounge.net is the first, and there is also a slightly more in depth build thread going on within the TDIclub

What is upside down, rusty, and has 4 wheels?

It’s this week’s “Weekly Rotting Car”!

One day, many days ago, I noticed something bluish WAY down a hill on the side of a road.  Naturally, I had to investigate the situation.  What I found was truly an awesome automotive specimen.  It was an upside down, engineless, rotting, yuckified, and a downright perfect car for this blog.   Anybody care to guess what it is?

Hint: It is not a Lamborghini.

The sweetest car collection….. in the Woods.

One of my favorite things to do in “off  seasons” (read: cold seasons), is to look at abandoned & wrecked old cars in the woods and in the junkyards.  I’m not really sure why I enjoy looking at old rotten cars, but it’s probably the same reason that dogs chase cats; because they can.  I have come across some really amazing vehicles over the years, but one of my all time favorites was finding a large wooded area of TriFive Chevy’s, most of them being 1957’s. There were probably about 20 of them, and almost all models were present from two doors, to 4 doors, and even wagons. Other than the convertibles & Nomads, no model was spared from this automotive atrocity.

Got a picture of an old rotten car ?  If so, send it over to jnutt@1aauto.com, and I will make sure it gets up here.

The 1AAuto Blog has entered the building.

The Hands of a 1A Auto Blogger.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce the launch of the 1AAuto “Nutts and Bolts” Weblog.  I know what you’re thinking, “why are there are two T’s in the word Nutts? Is there already a typo in this thing?”  Nope.  It is not a joke, and it’s not even a typo.  Jeremy Nutt is my name, and I will be the primary editor of this internet breakthrough of an automotive blog.  With a last name like mine, you really need to take charge of the never ending genealogical ridicule, and begin to make the name work for you.  I really had no choice in this matter; I just had to put my name to work.  Thus, “Nutt’s and Bolts” was born.

The foundation of this exquisite piece of computerized literature is constructed of cars, trucks, and everything else automotive.  It will quickly grow to become your favorite hangout for riveting automotive articles, how-to’s, news, product reviews, videos, pictures, and plenty of entertaining banter.  As if that isn’t enough, the greatest part of the entire Nutts and Bolts Blog will be you, the reader.   Seriously!  You have the full ability to respond to anything I (we) write.  I know you have plenty of things to fess up about, and I want to hear it.  So, cheers to you!  Now, let’s get this thing fired up!
