Causes of Timing Chain Issues
Over time the timing chains can stretch on the 2008 to 2017 Buick Enclave
How to Prevent Timing Chain Failure
The timing chains are located internally at the front of the engine.
To prevent timing chain failure, change the oil regularly and make sure it’s topped off

Causes of Ignition Coil Failure on the 2008 to 2017 Buick Enclave

The intake will need to be removed to access the ignition coils. We also recommend replacing the intake gasket and the spark plugs at the same time.
3. Water Pump Failure
Symptoms of a Bad Water Pump
- Leaking water pump
- Coolant on the ground near the passenger side
- Overheating engine
How to Fix Water Pump Failure
The repair can be completed from above the engine compartment by removing the battery, the engine mount, and a few other components.
The water pump can also be accessed underneath the vehicle, but it’s not as easy to replace with the vehicle on the ground.
4. Power Steering Pump Failure
Symptoms of a Bad Power Steering Pump
- Steering wheel binds when turning
Causes of Power Steering Pump Failure
A failed power steering pump could be from a lack of fluid to the pump starting to wear out.

The power steering pump is located on the front of the engine.
Check the pump to see if it’s leaking. If the pump is leaking, it needs to be replaced.
5. Climate Control Problems

Usually the actuator that changes the position of the vent door causes temperature problems with the climate control in the 1st gen Buick Enclave.
