The Chrysler 200 lasted two generations. The 1st gen Chrysler 200 had problems like slow throttle response and no heat working from a clogged heater core. This post covers the top 5 most common problems with the 2011 to 2014 Chrysler 200.
Top 5 Issues with the Chrysler 200: 1st Generation 2011 to 2014
1. Master Window Switch Failure
Symptoms of a Bad Window Switch
- One of multiple windows don’t work or work intermittently
Causes of a Bad Window Switch
The master window switch has a few electrical connectors. Sometimes rain water and similar outside elements can fall onto the switch and moisture can eventually damage the connectors.
How to Fix a Bad Window Switch
Disconnect the electrical connectors and look for discoloration or corrosion. Replace the switch if it’s defective. Test the motor with a test light.

2. No Heat/Heat Not Working
Symptoms of the Heat not Working in the 1st Gen Chrysler 200
- No heat with the engine warmed up and the blower motor and settings working
Causes of No Heat
The heater core tends to clog on the 2011 to 2014 Chrysler 200, causing this problem. It could be the coolant breaking down and making deposits or contaminants in the coolant breaking down and making deposits or contaminants in the coolant could be causing the clog.
How to Fix Heating Problems on the 2011 to 2014 Chrysler 200
Flush the cooling system. Disconnect the heater core lines. Apply pressure from a garden hose and clean out the debris from inside the heater core.

3. Throttle Body Failure
Symptoms of a Bad Throttle Body
- Erratic idle
- Laggy throttle response
- Poor fuel economy
Causes of a Bad Throttle Body
The air inlet hose connects to the throttle body. If there is a leak, dirty and unmetered air can pull into the intake system and accumulate on the throttle body blade. Dirty debris can bind up the throttle body blade and make it difficult for the motor to move the throttle body blade.
How to Fix a Throttle Body
Don’t move the throttle body blade because that could de-calibrate the throttle body. Spray throttle body cleaner onto the throttle body and clean it with a brush. Clean both sides of the throttle body blade.

4. Ignition Coil Failure
Symptoms of Bad Ignition Coils
- Rough running engine
- Check engine light for codes P0300 to P0304
How to Fix Ignition Coil Failure
Remove the ignition coil. Inspect it for discoloring or damage like melting. Check the wire for discoloring or damage like tearing.
If the code is for a specific coil, you can try swapping the coil with another and see if it switches. The ignition coil is faulty if the code follows it. If the code doesn’t follow the ignition coil, it might be the wiring or the spark plugs.

5. EVAP System Integrated Motor
Symptoms of a Faulty EVAP System Integrated Motor
- Check engine light for an EVAP code
Causes of a Faulty EVAP System Integrated Motor
The white valve on the EVAP canister has a hose that can clog with debris. The gasket can also wear out.
How to Fix a Faulty EVAP System Integrated Motor
Check the breather hose for debris. You may be able to blow debris out with air.
Remove the white valve. Check the gasket between the valve and the canister. Make sure it’s not dry rotted or cracked and tearing.
The valve is weighted, so if the canister has shifted where the valve could shift enough to not work properly, it can cause this problem. Check the electrical connector for moisture or discoloring.
